Anyone try the new Ractive air cleaner? It is a cone type with a heatshield around it: Ractive filters they look pretty cool, I might pick one up. Local spped shop has the sf007 for $30.

 

I dont know looks more restrictive than a regular cone filter. A heatshield really will not make a difference since it sucks the same hot air in anyway (on pop).

Most bang for your buck is the autozone cone filter...just 19.99. Here is a link to what mine looks like. Its not the best in the world (not re-usable) but it will get me by until I get a cai.

 

along this same line..

an Auto Import shop around here mentioned that they have an adapter for the 93 max so that it can take a RACTIVE cone filter.

question:

1. i noticed this thread started with reference to the heat. i am now thinking that it maybe better to get the heat deflector type cone? what u guys think? yea or nay or it doesn't matter?

2. anyone has any bad experience with the 'adapter' and RACTIVE filter combo???

3. is the JWT pop charger that much better than the RACTIVE to warrant me purchasing and shipping charges to Canada? or should i just drop the RACTIVE in??

well like I said earlier in this thread I dont think the heat shield would help in our situation...it is not directly by anything hot and its going to suck in the same hot air as other filters would period there is no getting around that except to put the filter outside the engine bay or behind the headlight (cai).

I dont know if the jwt is that much better...I just have the cheap autozone filter...check post above to link to my page.

 

also,

are the RACTIVE filters in there for life also?? so instead of replacning filters i just need to apply the K&N treatment?? also does this mod make anything else act up in the near future??

hi supa I brought one from performence improvement today, ractive conical intake no heatshield, that guy @ the store say the heatsheild doens't do much & recommended me get this for $35+tx

Alright this is the last time I am going to say this. The heat sheild itself will get hot from being in the engine bay. The "heat shield" will then pass on that heat to the air comming through it.

 

I saw one of these today it plastic so how is that an diffrent from the plastic box thats already there? or a pop ? I think i want to try and make my own cia and this would be great for that.

Why do people think smaller is better? Becuase that is what you guys will be getting.....A filter with a smaller surface area just because it looks cool. I give up. Some one please run me when you get your "heat sheilded" filters

 

Thank you...I said the same thing earlier but some people want looks over function. I guess if you can't have a real bof you might as well get a filter that looks like one...I mean after all thats an extra 10-15HP right there.

 

and I like it it has a really nice sound above 3000 rpm under that it sounds stock and my top end is a lot better I walked my bro's caddie today and we normlly are neck and neck and today I put about 3 cars on his a$$. lol I may not be getting as much air as I woud with reg pop but the way this filter is made I think i can take the heat sheld off if I want ,I will see about modding it in to a cia this weekend.
