Need Advice...

I have a '92 GXE MAXIMA, 80k original miles. The engine is running very rough. The car shakes all the time. I went to the dealership, but they want to charge me $60 for running a computer test. I'm guessing its the injectors, but i'm not sure. My friend has the same problem on his '91 Maxima, and his check engine is on, but he said he had it for a long time, and it was nothing to worry about. Does anyone else have this problem?
I already used fuel injector cleaners, but they don't help.
Any advice, on what to do?

Re: Need Advice...

try a total tune up first (probably due anyway)

I just wanted to post because I have never seen "I finally posted something!" under someones name before. You must have been a member for a long time and never posted or something.

If you did a complete tune up...wires, plugs, cap, rotor, pcv valve, o2 sensor. Then I would get a Haynes or Chilton manual and start testing things out (injectors, coil, and other sensors.)

Also try cleaning your throtle body. If you search you will find how to clean it.

Good luck.

Re: Need Advice...

I just dealt with this similar problem...turned out to be my injectoprs were bad, well i replaced them a few days ago and the problem persisted accept no the car stalled when I applied the brakes(ie- breaking constant fuel pressure), so turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator....so thats next on my to-do list!

but yeah I'd say your prob might be the injectors or maybe the FPR.
