intake manifold

I pulled the lower part of the intake manifold off today...b/wn the plastic air tube and TB...inside it's pretty dirty and black. What can I use to clean it..intake manifold cleaner??? (dumb ?)...just spray into the TB??? Or would it be better to try to take it all apart? I'll have money to get a manual friday...so either just put in your .02 or tell me to shut up and wait!! j/k...Thanx guys

carb&choke cleaner will work. if you're worried about firing it into your intake, just put it on a rag. . .. .

If you're up to the work, pull the entire manifold off and clean it up.
you can also change the fuel injector hoses while you're in there, and valve cover gaskets too if they're leaking.

you took apart the dual duct intake thing?
you can use intake cleaner spray it inside that would clean that visual part up a lil bit.

but on the upper intake manifold you`ll never get that clean until you take apart the whole intake assembly.

btw, i saw your car sat night, at the NIO meet. i came late, i guess every one was inside 59 diner eating, i just walked around looked at the turbo'd 240 and other cars and just went to my gf's house

i talked to a 4th genner guy, i forgot his name, but he has a dark green 4th gen max, he complimented me on my bmw lights w/ HID

not too difficult at all. it's an afternoon job to do everything and clean it up correctly.
while you're in there, take some small grinder stones on a drill and clean up the casting flash inside the manifold. there's not a ton, but there is some in there.
a few weeks ago, we started about 10am and changed tranny fluid, removed/cleaned/ground/replaced intake manifold, changed spark plugs, plug wires, valve cover gaskets, all vacuum hoses, and fuel lines... took us about 8 hours for everything, including 2 trips to the store.

i did my rear valve cover gasket about a month or more ago, i had no previous experience w/ car stuff excpet basic routine stuff, and it took me 8 hrs or so 4 everything, i just took off the intake, cleaned the tb, changed the gasket and put it all back together...fun it was...not to hard or anything, just time consuming cause there's lotsa bolts and crap to label and keep track of
