Intake Wrap?

Hey guys,

A cold air intake without a doubt helps performance. As we know they're made of aluminum. Aluminum absorbs heat pretty quickly. Well what i'm getting at is...

Exhaust wrap is used on headers to keep the heat from escaping.

Is there anything that someone can wrap around the aluminum intake to keep heat OUT and keep the air inside even cooler?

Thank you kind sirs

Use the same foil wrap not only does it help keep heat in but it helps to keep heat out, it would deflect the heat outward and keep the existing temp. the same inward

I guess you're right. i was wondering if it would actually make the intake hotter.

Thank you.

It would make the air a bit hotter, but not as hot as if it were just exposed

Well yeah, they make a wrap for that (I assume like a header wrap). Honduh boys use it all the time...

Actualy Summit carries a product exactly for what you need. It's $20 for a 12X24" adhesive backed sheet though Part NO. THE-13575.
Or they have it in 1.5"X15ft roll for $15 Part NO. THE 14002

Use the same wrap you use on turbo and intercooler piping, like said above it's sold through Summit as well as a few others.

By the way i wasn't kidding about the ice, it works great and it's free, it's only really useful for days at the track though, or headed to the local races..

Ice would melt too quick then just serve as a potential electrical hazard with extra weight i don't need. For the track it's not a bad idea, but I wouldn't use ice. I would use those gel packs you get at the hospital to put on swelling and stuff. Those stay colder much longer. That stuff is sold alot of places..you can make one that wraps your intake just right.

I'm just looking for somethign to help me keep the air a bit cooler though..no need to turn my engine bay into a fridge.

very tru, on a Max it would only be advisable if you had relocated the battery to the trunk, leaving you with that space. ANd i'm only saying it because i had a close friend who did that on his max just for the hell of it after he saw a sub with it. Gel packs or dry ice would be sweet though... Gel packs wrapped around the intake pipe maybe?

Dry Ice is just condesnsed co2 as ot "melted" it would just be that much more co2 the engine would be sucking in. It is a tough call as to wether or not the pros would out way the cons
