ABS problem, but no code?

Howdy again !

After the whole weekend messing around with the left inner CV boot and front crank seal, my ABS light comes on. I think it must be from the front driver side (since that was the place I spent most of the time messing around with the CV).

I located the ABS control unit. I think the clear lens at the bottom should let me retrieve the error code but it doesn't light at all ! I am not sure if I'm checking it correctly. I had my engine off but left the ignition at Acc2 (two clicks turning clockwise, normal engine running position). Then I looked through the lens and saw no lights. I was expecting it to brink 5 times to indicate the front driver side sensor.

(I probably need to check my left front ABS sensor and the axle to make sure they are clean. I constantly cleaning them while I was working on the axle.)

What is the correct procedure to get the ABS error code? Thanks.
