I checked my spark plugs today and they all look ok...worn, but good. Except for the #5 and #6 cylinders which have some oil on the plugs

I'm gonna replace them friday, but I wanted to know if I had a problem with the engine that I should check out soon. The oil is only on the treaded part of the plug, not the head and tip and the tips are ashy white and clean. Thanks for the help.

yu either have a gasket leak or yur piston rings there is also the valve seals are worn out so either way yur engine need work cause if oil is getting there yu need work

 

as in try replacing the head gasket too?

 

The head gasket is not a simple job, make sure what it is before you do anything. Is the oil on the threads or the actual plug?

 

oil or gas?
make sure you know what's on it.
gas = leaky injector
oil = blown rings, blown head gasket, blown valve seals

 

it's brown oil....I know the diff between the 2. It's on the treads and gasket of the plugs on the #5 and #6 cylinders. Not trace of oil on the head and tip of the plugs or where the wires plug up either.

not trying to be smart..I just know the diff, that's all. Thanks for the help and I'll get the compression checked and look at all my seals tomorrow.

 

make sure you/they can determine if it's the rings or the valves.

 

will do...I dunno if i'll end up doing it or just get someone to check it out. Just trying to get everything fixed I can. Next thing is KS...either clean the connectors or just replace it. Track times suxd last night...best was 17.1 @ 79mph...so, I'd determined to find out what's wrong with it and fix it.

 

The firewall side cylinders are odd numbers, 1 3 5. You say only the threads have oil... is it possible that you just spilled some oil over the spark plugs? Also if the tips are white, I believe it means you are running lean on fuel.
