just got my license today. The guy at the dmv was being an a-- but I am now a licensed driver in the fine state of pennsylvania (scary, heh). Took the max out to work tonight and it's niiice driving around w/o the parental speed regulator
Just have to keep on the right side of the law and the laws of physics and all will be well. I'm really surprised how quick the thing is for an 89 w/so many miles. and it's always just begging to be pushed, mmmmm VG power

The first time I drove by myself, I ended up running my parents '82 volvo over a curb. Those old iron rims weren't even damaged.Originally posted by sabotosh

my first time driving i almost flipped my moms chevy tracker......was wondering why the world was on a 45 degree slant.....
just take it easy at first though until u learn what ur car can do....and can't do.....

im only 16 but ive been driving a while now, i managed to plow over a stop sign at 10mph in my max the second week i had it. Scared the crap outta me and lucky enough left only a small scratch in the bumper, barely noticeable. Shoulda seen that thing fly though.

Congratulations! Must be an exciting time for you! I remember when I first got my license... but I won't bore you with that!
Now a word of advice from someone who's been driving awhile and had a pretty big accident just recently: Be careful out there! I know teenagers and new drivers (and some SUV/pickup drivers too, I noticed) often feel invincible. I was like that when I first got my license too. In fact if I can go back in time, I wouldn't want to sit in the car with me back then driving! But truth is, bad things do happen. Just recently (last week) a 17 years old girl was killed near my home from road rage-type incident, incidentally giving proof to the recent study that said teenage girl drivers are as bad as boys. Anyway, be safe, use common sense, and don't be a statistic!

I get my license on the 29 (could ahve it on the 23 but i will be on vacation) and i am counting the days away. one thing that is really frustrating me though is my parents wont let me drive to the ocean 2 weeks after i get my license. I have had numerous hours of highway driving, some being in the rain and heavy winds, but they still say i am too inexperienced. I hate parents

Highway/Freeway driving is much easier and stress-free than driving in busy city stop-and-go traffic, why are they being dumb about it?

Ever been to the shore? Usually traffic is just as bad here as it is in the city... I know.Originally posted by Brave Ulysses

i didnt have to many problems at all driving, mainly because i had a high anticipation for it and almost wore out my Gone In 60 Seconds DVD.
well i was driving with my permit and i was in Sun River Oregon in my moms 1998 Subaru Outback (4cyl 5spd) and way, lots of snow on the ground, i had just got done watching the rally championships on tv with them racing in the Snow and everything, so i took a 90* turn at about 40ish and the car didnt completly straighten out after the turn, it slid of the side of the road and hit (well tapped) a Tree (at maybe 2mph or so?), just got some sap on the bumper, my grandpa was in the back seat laughing his *** off at me and my mom wasnt to happy. if it was a parking lot or something, it would have been fun
MrGone
anyone else thinks is really fun to watch a friend drive your car for the first time? the only one i let drive it (my best friend) got a huge *** smile across his face when he hit higher RPMs, until then he was 100% ford truck and old muscle car (no problem there, but i heard the words "jap crap" to my maxima quite a bit, no more though)

yea i also have a high anticipation for driving. I love the feeling of being in control of the car and what its going to do. For some reason i feel safer when i am driving then anybody else, or maybe its just beacuase i love driving.

yeah, i hate riding with other people driving. its not only the control thing, but i have a hole other mindset when im driving, it keeps it really fun. also normally when im not driving, then my sister is, which means my parents have to be in the front and i have to sit in the back
the only person i dont mind riding with it my best friend, but even in the maxima i constantly have to remind him that "your not doing it right" in general, but hes abit more consertive, then again its not his car. hes also used to his truck, (its nismo280 btw) and it doesnt fly off the line like the maxima can, but it still has get up, its just alot bigger!
its funny, when he powerbrakes his whole truck lifts 3"s just from the torque its so funny to watch, if theres rice next time him, trying to race him (funniest thing) he just power brakes it, and up even higher we go (gotta time it otherwise the hudraulic pressure will kill the tranny and the heat that builds) and when he power brakes, you can sure bet hes first off the line
and its a small block 1 ton (4.56 gears + posi
)
