Confused about JWT ECU

Ok, here is the info from www.cattmanperformance.com :

"Big boost in hp/torque up to about 5k rpm, removes speed limiter, raises rev limiter from 6.5k to 7.0k. Reprogramming on daughterboard. Stock ECU can be sent in for direct modification or exchanged w/ a core charge of $500 for 89-94 OBD1 ECUs. Upgraded ECU sent from JWT, working original unit returned after installation (w/in 15 days) for credit of core charge. No core charge if customer’s ECU is sent in for upgrade."

The price beside all this info says $ 565.

So what is the price if you send in your ECU to JWT for "direct modification"?

that would be $565
the core is just charged to you in case you dont return your ecu...after you return your ecu they will refund the core charge of $500.

Look at it like this they will charge you $1065 if they send you a ecu but will credit back $500 when they receive yours back.

but if you send them yours to program there will be no core charge and you will just be charged $565

o, so either way, it's pretty expensive I think I might wait until there is no mods left for me to do before I get it.

Re: Confused about JWT ECU

I read that to say, If you send your own ECU in it will cost $565.

If you DON'T send your ECU in, they will charge a "core fee" or a deposit of sort. This is a $500 fee. They will send a ECU, and you must send in your old one. When they get it they will refund the $500. Up front cost is $1065.

yeah at that cost I believe that would be my last mod too. I think the general consensus is that is the best way anyway because then you dont have to get it reprogramed if you do any other major mods. I have not really researched it I am just going by what I remember reading a while back.

So you send it in and tell them what mods you have and the program it accordingly? There isn't much left I can do powerwise. Maybe a underdrive pulley, cat, and a new bipe.

Another question...

does anybody know if JWT charges extra to be compatible with upgraded injectors? is there any way to get a sort of timing retard in one(doubt it)?

I think it would probably be an extra $100 for an injector reprogram call them up, I tlkaed to them about a year ago on the phone, great service and nice knowledgeable techs!!! and I'm sure JWT has a "retard program" since thats one of the main functions of their NOS daughterboard add-on!!

i still haven't done UDP. i think it's a general program for all bolt ons. any other modifications..injectors, cams etc will need more programming. NOS...seperate module etc. Anyway gains are seen based on the mods you have. I think the number is 8 to 10% of total horsepower. So if you have a CAI and add the JWT you would see less of a gain than someone who has I/Y/E/UDP.

I haven't tested it yet but gains are noticeable. I get my ride back friday and will probably track it next week

Yep, but I think it depends, I don't think Kaleb got a new one when he went from auto to 5spd though.
