Exhaust question
Hello hello, quick question for ya'll:
My car came from out east (damn salty roads) and my exhaust is rusting from the catalytic converter to the end of the muffler. Started hissing the other day and making all sorts of noise so I'm pretty sure that its rusted all the way through at one point. So my question is, what would your best guess be for the cost of an exhaust replacement from the cat back??? THANKS!

why not just goto a muffler shop(midas, etc.) and get a BRAND NEW catback done for like $60-70...a lot more reassuring than getting another used one that will rust quicker! just my $.02! also less hassle, it'll take forever to get those damn cat bolts off!! ![Mad](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)

rusted bolts will be the biggest factor. take some rust eater with you and some 1/2" metric sockets and open-end wrenches. what the he$$, take your tools. as long as the car is off the ground you should have no problems removing the exhaust. just take your time, so as not to strip or break any of the bolts. later.....

midas will install a two part exhaust system with a $hitty muffler that is guarenteed to rust out in 2 years. the factory nissan mufflers are protected by and outer shell and in the inner shell is made of much thicker metal. besides, the two part exhaust system is at least $120 at NAPA.
