Stereo Problems

Recently whenever I start the car my cd player turns on, but no sound comes out. Also when I have it on the reciever (i.e the radio) that will stop playing after 10 to 15 minutes. It used to be that my Cd player was realiable, but it has been going out more and more now. It will come back on eventually, but it's completly random as to hom much time it takes to come back online. What do I need to do? have any of you had this problem?
Thanks
Chris

i think 3rd gen max's (atleast mine) sometimes have freak electrical issues.... like sometimes my stereo won't come on, then i kill my car, start 'er back up, then it works fine.... could be my stereo though? who knows?

i think you guys should pull the decks out and make sure the harrnesses are nice and snug and there are no wires that may be stripped and touching any metal back there. at least that sounds like the symptoms

Head unit

My Bose head unit died a slow death of internal electical failures. The symptoms you describe were one of mine. I think your head unit is dying, and is no longer properly driving the cd player.

Yeah, Mine died about 2 years ago..... I was driving down the road and it started smoking up the interior of my car. I had a feeling that it was the stereo and pulled the fuse. I am just glad that it didn't actually catch on fire or damage anything else. I now have a pioneer stereo and something I have always wanted.....a cup holder.

Cup holder......that sounds nice. The one problem with taking the max on a date, it's a little uncomfortable when you have nowhere to put the drinks. I'll check out the harness, but I'm going to replace the head unit eventually. Right now I have a completly stock sound system, but I'm going to add two MTX 8000 in about a month, but I want to get this sorted out before I put them in. Thanks
