stock cd player and bose question

i just received a stock cd player from a fellow member. well i tried to install it and everything but the thick black wire that looks like the antenna wire does not fit. it has about 7 prongs in ti and the bose headunit has a space for a 5 prong wire. i have no sound going to the bose headunit. can anybody with a stock cd player help me with this. maybe someone can check the back of their old headunit and see how many holes are in the back for this wire. thanks

i don't think our cars can use the 7 prong plug since we use the 5 prong on the stock bose radio. In order for it to work I think you need to get the one manufactured by SONY, the sony unit has 5 prongs.

I believe the headunits changed to the 8 pin din plugs in 93. They still looked the same so you have to look at the model numbers in order to tell the difference. I think the model numbers are: 1992 is PN-9481D and 1993 is PN-9700.

As far as I know there are no adapters to convert from one to the other. I never tried to make an adapter, but I do have the pinouts if you're interested.

well i guess im screwed then,

tim, if you could get me those pinouts that would be great. maybe me and a friend could try and make an adapter.

otherwise, does anyone with a factory CD player from a 92 and before for sale. or maybe someone has a factory bose headunit from a 93 and above for a sale that works well

thanks

Here you go:

5-Pin:
Pin 1 = On Signal (CD->Headunit)
Pin 2 = On Signal (Headunit->CD)
Pin 3 = Signal Ground
Pin 4 = Left Channel Input
Pin 5 = Right Channel Input

(info from 89-90 unit PN-92101-A; same for other 5 pin headunits)

8-Pin:
Pin 1 = CD-On Signal Input
Pin 2 = Headunit -On Signal Output
Pin 3 = Not Used
Pin 4 = Left Channel Input (+)
Pin 5 = Right Channel Input (+)
Pin 6 = Left Channel Input (-)
Pin 7 = Right Channel Input (+)
Pin 8 = Not Used

(info from 92-93 unit PN-9700D; same for other 8 pin headunits)

Tim
