I have a 97-99 5 speed manual open differential transmission for sale. The transmission was recently rebuilt by me (I work at one of the best performance oriented manual transmission rebuild shops in the country) and has a new and properly shimmed input shaft bearing and properly shimmed differential carrier bearings (also called side bearings).

The transmission also has slightly modified shift rails which make for slightly improved shifting action. Nothing extensive, but just a small improvement I made. The gears are NOT modified.

I don't remember the year of the transmission but it's a 97-99 (which has a double synchronizer on 1st gear) as opposed to the 95-96 which only has a single synchro on 1st). I don't know the mileage on the transmission and frankly it doesn't matter being as the gearsets and bearings were all in excellent shape when I had it apart last summer. The trans has about 5,000 miles on it since I rebuilt it last summer.

Asking $800 shipped for the transmission. I can ship the transmission through my workplace. PM or email me. There will be no "dibs" calling though feel free to post any questions you might have, etc. Money talks. I take paypal.

cool that you work at a transmission shop. so would it be easy for you to lengthen 5th gear (for highway gas mileage)?

No that would be pretty expensive. You'd probably be looking at $1000+ for a one-off taller 5th gear.

I hope I get this check in time. My damn tranny just went out on me.

If I got my car out there could you install it as well? If so how much would you charge for the whole thing (tranny + install)

I should clarify, this transmission will drop right into any maxima from 1995-2001. I just posted that it is a 97-99 trans to indicate that it has the double synchro 1st gear which is a little bit better design than the 95-96 synchro design. That doesn't affect the installation of the transmission in any way. I used this transmission in my 95 since last summer.

probably not unless it becomes apparent that that is the only way I am going to be able to get rid of it... I don't really have the time to work on my own car let alone anyone else's.

I live probably at least 12 hours west of you anyways so I doubt that would work out - definately not to your advantage anyways as it sounds liked you'd have to ship the car out here since your trans is broken. I'm sure there's someone out east who'd help you install it though if you were to buy it and have me ship the trans to you.
