Shipping it in just bubble wrap will be fine. I shipped swaybars and mufflers that way, by Fedex and UPS, never had a problem. Especially a swaybar which is a solid piece of metal, not like it will get damaged... and both Fedex and UPS provide automatic insurance up to $100.

thanks for this info. it'll be my last resort if i can't get any local takers. in your experience, how much was it to ship a sway bar? its rather heavy.
