help me with replacing antenna mast
i did read lots of posts here about replacing the antenna mast, they are very helpful.
before i change the broken mast on my 97 GXE, i have the last question:
i should pull out the old mast as well as the white cable and use the new mast and cable, or i can use the old cable?
if i need replace both the mast and the cable, how to connect the new cable to the motor assmble
i wish to have some future pictures in my mind before start

What about if you have no antenna mast like I do....its just completely gone. Whats involved in the actual installation?
There is an antenna mast-retaining nut that you must remove first. It is a bezel nut that you will need snap ring pliers or an antenna tool to remove it. You will need two people for this job. One person controlls the ignition switch and the other holds the antenna mast.
1. Turn the ignition key and the radio to the ON position (this will allow the antenna mast to unwind itself from the motor assembly).
2. Guide the antenna mast and toothed drive cable out of the motor assembly (slowly pull it straight up and out).
To install the new antenna:
1. Insert the antenna cable with the teeth facing the rear of the vehicle.
2. Next, have your assistant turn the ignition key and radio to the OFF position. This will allow the antenna mast to wind itself back into the motor assembly.
3. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal.
