Engine Bay Color Differs from Exterior Color.

My friend just bought a 1996 Nissan Maxima SE. He has the white gauges and leather seats. This is what I noticed being a little weird. The color of his engine bay is black and the color of the car is dark blue. Is this right or was the car painted? I have a friend with a 1997 Nissan Maxima GXE and the engine bay and exterior are the same. Maybe it's something Nissan did before the 97-99 models. I dunno or maybe the car was re-painted!!!!! Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

It seems like the car was repainted...and they didn't even paint the edges around the engine bay.

Some places that you purchase from have a money back guarantee with a limited time option

You can also look out for the VIN number, it's on all panels (front fenders, hood, doors, trunk, rear quarter panels)

If VIN #s are missing, you could be looking at a car that had been worked on.

Did your fried run a Carfax?

me too

I have a blue 95 GLE and my engine bay is also black. And I know for a fact that the car wasn't painted. I guess it has something to do with the 95-96 or the color...or the class maybe?

Peace - Chad

i think it is the 95-96 max's and the early edition 97's....i got my car in 96 as an early edition 97, because i have seen other 4th gens, and their strut mounts are the color of their car, atleast on most i have seen anyways
