So far as I know...I guess all the options that the GLE comes with makes the car heavier...is that all or am I missing something. What options are they???

The GLE may be just barely slightly heavier due to additional options, but I don't think they're legitimate enough to determine that GLE's are therefore slower than other maximas. SE's can come as loaded as a GLE, so I don't think the claim the GLE's are slower is legit. From a GXE to a GLE, Maximas are too similar performance wise to make any claims that one trim or even one year of a maxima is faster than another, right Craig?

that is soo hilarious! but yes it's the overall combination of added weight -- all the standard equipment that comes with GLE and the "the fugly [heavy] rims that orignally came with my car" as Kevin so blatantly pointed out, and no stick.
but its best to think of the GLE as not so much as the slower maxima but the most luxurious one, excluding those "f-ugly" rims. but hey don't despair, there's always a SC you can bolt on. besides a GLE will always beat that sucky honda

That GLE badge on the trunk lid ALONE adds like, 300lbs.
Factor up the groceries in the trunk and man, that's at least .1 on the quarter...
I mainly don't like the GLEs as much because they're all automatics. Then again, in my opinion, I wouldn't even be interested in an automatic maxima, but plenty of people are. I figure with pretty much all the options found on the GLE available on the SEs from the factory (mine came with bose, fogs, heated leather seats, auto climate control, etc, plus a wood kit that was better than the factory GLE trim, better factory suspension, and the all-important manual tranny), the GLEs are kind of an odd trim level that fit a certain person. I mean, sure, you can mod the GLEs out to improve on some areas, but if you're going to do that and go w/aftermarket eq, you might as well save some dough and go with a GXE...
But yea, they're the "slowest" stock (note again, stock. Not saying there's not fast GLEs out there) due to a very slight weight difference and auto tranny. The auto makes the difference in time - the weight is pretty trivial.

always beat a SUCKY honda? in a 1995 GLE max with 130k mi and currently nothing but a JWT intake (yeah my entire SMX exhaust is still sitting in my garage cuz im too broke to put it on after payin for all of it; and dont know how to weld).. anyhow I took a modified Accord with CAI AND cat-back by 1/2 a car. so this entire "GLE's are slow" thread is mere foolishnessOriginally posted by vipervadim
