A Good Ride

I want to purchase new tires for the max, stock size 215/55/16.
Am looking for 225/55/16, im looking for something that has a nice quiet and asborbing ride with less bump or the feeling of less bumpiness.

Yoko AVS is one choice any other choices that will suit my needs.

Thanks

Hello:

Yokahamas tend to ride fairly hard.
I know some of their models even have stainless steel inserts in the sidewalls!!! If that is not asking for a rough ride, I don't know what is.

A few years back I used to have Yokahama A520's. Those must be the most uncomfortable tires ever made. But it sure had virtually instant steering response and the sidewalls were as stiff as bricks.

I don't think the AVS sport is that much of a departure. I know a guy that used to have AVS tires on his car. It wasn't a pleasant ride and even all his co-workers told him so.

You should look at the Bridgestone Potenza line or perhaps Dunlop SP9000's.

A 215/55/16 will give you a better ride than a 225/55/16 -- everything else being equal with the brand and model tire. the 215 will have 3-4 pounds less unsprung weight which should help out the ride.

I have Potenza RE730s, and they seem louder than the stock tires, but I absolutely LOVE them. They're cheap, sticky, cornery(hehe), and very good in the rain.

Sorry I can't recommend any tires for ya, but I will say this:

You need to buy either 215/55 or 225/50, because 225/55 will be too tall (they'll look funny, and throw off your speedometer a few mph)

Two tires I have tried which have a smooth ride are

Dunlop SP5000

Yokohama AVS dB

Both are all season ultra high performance tires.
