Low Washer fluid warning light?
Low Washer fluid warning light?
I know this was mentioned before, but I couldn't find the answer that I was looking for.
I have a 97 SE, with heated outside mirrors and and heated seats, which makes me think I have the cold weather package, which should have the low washer fluid warning light, right? I was wondering, for those who have it, does that light comes on when you first turn on the car; or when the key is on the second possition. (you know, when the oil, and batery, etc lights are on)
By the way, My tank if full of washer fluid, so I don't want to waste it all to find out.
Thanks

Myiqis180, the low washer fluid light works similar to the low fuel light, meaning that if you really are low on washer fluid then the light will come on at startup, otherwise everything is just fine with the light.
You did give me a good idea though, I don't have the cold weather package in my '98 SE, but I do see a shadow of the Low Washer Fluid light in my dash when the sun hits on it so when I get the chance I'll ask my dealer to connect the light and all.

It was mentioned in the old 4th gen FAQ.
We are prewired for low washer level warning. The bulb is even in the meter. You simply need to buy the sensor, drill a hole in your tank, install the sensor and connect the wiring (connector is taped back near the washer pump).
This is all if I remember correctly.

See Aaron95SE's post, part # is 28911-1E400 and he paid $17. He even said how he installed it.

Time to pay Bill Cook's parts dep't a visit this week
Found it!! / For Aaron95SE
OK I went under the car to pull the cover to see if I can find the connector for the LWF sensor, already found it, but just to make sure is it a brown connector to where the sensor would be attached to?

Good job on your install, perhaps there could be a sticky on how to add on a Low Washer Fluid sensor for those who don't have the cold package, maybe even add some step-by-step pics on how you did it too

Paid a visit to the Parts dep't at Bill Cook today, they want $24 for the sensor (now I know why u hate that place among other reasons, but IMO that's the only place I can trust w/ my Max) so I told them I'd order that part next week along w/ a few other things there.

Firstly, I get 25% discount on parts at Bill Cook (yet I still refuse to buy anything from them) and secondly, I now have a better 'parts deal' thanks to my work affiliation.

So far, I've hooked up 4 friends with Nissan vehicles and I've insisted that they are not to buy them from Bill Cook. What goes around comes around, wish they knew who they were messing with.

light didn't come on
I recently obtained the sensor from my dealer the other day and w/o drilling any holes, I figured I'd give the sensor a test (according to 99maxi's procedure on his webpage) by plugging in the sensor connector from the tank to the sensor to see if the light would come on in the dash, and by placing the sensor upright to activate the light, I started the car up and next thing I see is no light, I don't know if the sensor itself is defective or if the connector went bad but I know for sure the sesnor is brand new, so something might be at fault w/ the connector or the wiring to the connector so any suggestions would help if I'm doing something wrong or if I actually have something defective within the sensor itself, or the connector and the wiring to it?
That's a big possibility >>

Could it be the connector is dirty & gunked up, or the terminals are corroded?

Albertt's procedure is a very detailed one to follow. Wht, after you've tried it, speak of your washer light.

After trying Albertt's procedure to clean up the connector, my LWF light still won't come on even after trying 99maxi's procedure to connect the sensor & position it upright to test the light.
The stubborn refusal of the LWF light in my SE to turn on is starting to tick me off. So far I've ruled out 3 possibilities (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
1) The LWF light in the dash is burned out or doesn't work at all
2) The sensor connector from the washer fluid reservoir is bad
3) The parts dep't gave me a bad sensor
Don't know what to do anymore

For the time being just kinda stuck b/w a rock and a hard place on this one, know what I mean
does the light come on if the car is on, but not started?? try that.. and make sure the sensor is standing in the right position.. u can always test to see if the wiring is working with a volt meter..
