Need opinions on auto tranny flush..

Hey..um yeah i was talking to my dad the other day bout my 95 Max GXE AUTO and I told him i think I need a tranny flush and to get my throttle body cleaned he said the "guys at work" told him they were wastes of money. The car has 114,000 on the odometer and has never had either of these done before. This came to my attention because my acceleration has dramatically decreased and when the tranny shifts it jerks and its not good at all.. need some opinions
