Hyrbid intake hurt my performance.
I had meant to post this a while ago....
I made and installed my own hybrid intake tube made of parts from the hardware stores... installed it, and yes it was louder but right off the bat I hated the new noise.. didnt sound anything like our beautiful engines sound...sounded like someone took my intake and put it in a 50gal barrol... so I was ready to remove it right away haha -
buuut, I took it to the track. I definately did not feel like I gained anything from it, so I ran with it. ET was identical to a normal run, but trap speed was 2mph slower. I decided to run it again. Exact same results. Same ET, 2mph less trap speed. I then yanked it out and put the stock resonator back on (loved the new/old noise from it!) and ran it to see if it was the weather or something. Normal ET, and normal trap speed (2mph more then "hybrid intake") ...
So I do not understand how I got the same ET but lower trap speed, I guess I had more low end and it restricted top end or something, I have no clue... but i hate that noise and it did not make me any faster... so its outta there.
Thats my experience.

Was your piping the same diameter throughout the midpipe? Did you have to use any adapters to attach the pipe?
Some of the home made hybrids I've seen don't look too bad, but in general I think it's worth it to just buy a fabricated piece. The intake sound with my midpipe wasn't bad nor was it too much louder, but it did help out. Think of it this way: would you rather have the resonator that allows the air to flow multiple routes (and quiets the sound) or have a straight pipe that takes air directly to the throttle body.
