Amplifier installation
#1
Hey all, I just got a pair of 10 Ex polk audio subs. I was wondering how I can get the power wiring to the battery? I am cheap and don't want to get it installed...but if I have to...I will. Also, do I need to drill a hole through the firewall, or is there already a hole that I can get a wire through, cuz for my old integra I un-professionally installed a system...running the power cable through the side of the door into the the hood. I don't want to make it ugly like my old 90 integra.

There's a hole back by the firewall on the left side of the car. I ran the wire into the fender right up by the battery, then removed the wheel liner to get into the fender, cut a small slit in the grommet through the large hole the wiring goes through into the interior, and then pulled the power line into the car somewhere slightly above the dead pedal.

I went direct through the firewall
There should be a hole behind the fuel filter in your hood. It's right by your steering wheel stuff under the hood. You should be able to stuff a 4 gauge wire through there. Run the wire down and pull through the other side. It should route down near your gas pedal. Pull the slack so you have no problems with the wire while driving.

When you buy wiring kits, do they come with everything like the power wire, RMS wires, or the rigger wires? If not, which ones do I have to buy separately? By the way, I want to hook up a 225watt RF amp and one JL 12W0 sub.

I have three amp kits
Two are dual amp kits and the other was a monster wire kit. On my other car, I bought everything separate and mismatched sizes, purposes, and brand. It was a budget system. The one in my maxima used to be a monster kit (from my girlfriend at Best Buy her discounted price was $12 instead of $50) These things are rediculously overpriced. I later upgraded to a Rockford Fosgate dual amp kit. I have a 4 channel amp and a 2 channel for the my JL 12w6. If you don't have your sub already, my other car has a bandpass with 2 JL 12W0. I wouldn't mind selling one.
The dual amp kit comes with:
one 12ft long 4 guage power(red) wire,
two 8 guage power (red) wire,
two 8 guage ground(black) wire,
one 2 foot long 4 guage ground (black) wire,
two sets of 10 feet long gold plated RCA patch cables
two power distribution blocks
a battery post (for show)
and a remote line.
Every amp kit should have what you need to install one amp. If you plan on having two amps, I highly recommend the dual kit. With my system, I can wire up 4 amps in about 10 minutes. Instead of having to run cables back and forth to my battery and chasis, I just connect a wire to my distribution block.
