Auto Tranny going...going... Doesn't look good

97 Auto with 82k miles...
Anymore than half throttle and the tranny slips(?).
Normal driving, everything is fine, but when I downshift
the power isn;t transferred to the wheels.
Most noticeable in 2nt gear. No smells, no odd noises.
Any suggestions on steps to take would be appreciated.

Could be a few things. Clutch packs worn out. Pump not producing enough pressure. VB not functioning correctly.

Check or change the fluid lately?

And I only owned the car for about 8k miles. I dunno wtf happened. It just died one day. It stopped going into gears, but i could manually shift it into 1st and second, so i drove around in 2nd for a week. supposedly some pump failed, i never opened it to see what happened inside.
