Spending money is dumb?

Sometimes I wonder, is spending all this money on modifications for my car dumb, especially since I have 99,700 miles on my car?

I mean, I love my baby, but somehow, it all seems excessive at times (like now).

What are your thoughts?

RL

Nope, not dumb if you enjoy doing it. Just like any other hobby.

Now if you were buying things like NOS kits and not paying your rent or house note, that would be dumb.

Amen to that brother. But for real, I work at a Nissan Dealership and have seen Max's come in with 200,000+ miles on them running just fine. As long as you do all your regular maintance, sounds like your engine is just getting broken in.

It is somewhat...

If Maxima is the only thing you dump money into it, then yeah it's somewhat dumb. I don't understand why people put all these expensive motor mods into it, when you can just go spend all that money buy yourself a used Porsche 911 or 930S. But granted, not all of us can drop $30-$50K in a used Porsche all at once. I would rather spend the $6K on my CTS 125 then putting anymore stuff into my Maxima. Talk about speed, adrenaline and driving experience... can beat a shifter-kart. And I see too many stories about people getting into a MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) with their nicely modded Max, then all that hard work is all over. But then.... spending money in your car is still hella lot better than spending your money on dope and stupid things like that, as long as you don't street race and endanger someone else's life.

Just my $.02

I agree that everyone should save for retirement, even at an early age. Things like maxing out your IRA contribution and workplace retirement plans like 401K, etc...

It's your choice whether you want to spend money to mod your car to the gills. I used to do that, then I've been new mod free for a couple years now. No big deal for me, as I have come to realize the car is a tool for getting me from A to B, and not a money pit.

i under stand where you are comming from, my dad and mom for that sake think makin a car faster when it already runs is dumb they go on the principal if it is not briken dont fix it! i am 17 and have a job that pays $15 an hour so i have some spare cash to throw in to my car so i do what i like with it. and besides it keeps me occupied so i dont get in to stupid $**t like pot. also the girls like a luxury car that can whip the cars that are suposed to be
"fast" cars like mustangs.(they suk)
