Why do dealers tell bold-face lies?

I think I fixed my problem...which was getting worse and worse since
February...after trying everything, I geve in and took my car to the
closest dealer.

The dealer said "100%, it's your torque convertor and it'll be $2000"
(that's CDN $$$), to which I said "don't touch my car"...

Took my car to a tranny shop, that was recommended by an .org'er, and
they said "your torque converter is fine, I don't want to change it".

WOW! An honest mechanic!!!

So, after some investigation, I discovered that my MAFS wiring had
been spliced in the past...I re-spliced it, and now the car is about
80% better!!! I know when I change the wire, I'll be 100%

What bothers me is that the dealer always looks for the quickest, most
expensive repairs...if it doesn't solve the problem, they'll say "well
now so and so is broken..."

If they actually investigated the issue (like I did), they would have
put two and two together to figure it out...I mean, I even gave the
dealer the last 6 or 7 codes to help him out -- and each of the codes
has one wire in common...

anyway, they're b@st@rds!!!!

my $0.02,

Why do dealers tell bold-face lies?

It's simple, they want to make more money, its messed up, but ultimately, they don't care about your car.

I dont know what dealer was that but I know the dealer in Louisana they were pretty honest with me. I am a little mechanically inclined so they can not easily hose me down!!!

Didn't I tell you it was the MAF sensor back in one of your threads?

My dealer wanted to charge me $150 for a new relay for my emergency blinkers. Guess they could've saved themselves looking like complete *******es if they had checked the fuse panel first

Dealers are just there to make money. If you actually need your car fixed, take it elsewhere.

Yeah my bro had a problem with his clipers and he went to a dealer, he wanted to find out how much would it cost to replace both of the rear clipers but the guy told him he don't know because he has to check it first and it would cost like $40 , then he asked him agian how much would it cost and he started coming up with some bull and asked him how many pistons there were on the calipers. That was funny since because it was a easy question to answer but the guy wanted to mess with him with that bs, I hate dealers around me.

my $0.02 as well. They're just there to scam people into spending more than what it is actually needed, and who knows, they may do something to your car that might require you to come back to them later. Now I do everything myself, I only wish I could do my own tire mounting/balancing and alignments.

7 times out of 10, they are out to get your $$$ (Its a business). There are a few good ones in between here and their I MUST ADMIT! Bankston Irving(Dallas area is great) never have tried to get over on me of course they cant. I am very mechanically inclined and plus the Org has educated me alot on the Max.
