Ok, I have recently tinted my windows 15% all around and put on diamond cut clear corners, the car looks 1000% better than before, but now, i HATE HATE HATE the stock tail lights on the max. Having a '95, it is difficult, but not impossible to get the red clears, but I still think the lines are too straight and boxy. I also dont like the altezza options much, but feel like the carbon ones would look much better than stock on my white max. But, what it comes down to, is that I want to see more options available for our max's because i dont want to be forced down the altezza route.

spend 3 bucks...

no lights:

all you need is red vinyl tape (3 bucks), heatgun, and lots of effort. I can let you know more in detail. Personally, this is my temporary fix because the ambers are disgusting! 3 bucks.... not bad =)

The tails on my 96 SE look similiar to Nadir_S's. All I did was use some translucent red "Testers" ($4). The look is very clean. The turnsignals are the same red as the brake lights now.

how much would it cost for a good paint shop to match the tricolor white and apply it to the altezza's?

also, that pic of travis's car, what lights is he painting over, they dont look like normal altezzas, are they? where are the white reverse lights?

Yup, we definitely need more tail light options.

I want to paint my red/clear to all red, but then the reverse light wouldn't light up the right color.

I considered that too... thinkin to redout the whole thing but then i realized that the reverse is gonna be a ***** so i just left the only part that lights up for the reverse light (3/4 of the stock cleared part).

save the clear headlights and the easily red\clearable rear lights, i like the 95/96 design better (too bad crash tests suck with 95/96 too)

anyway, i am feeling like the carbon altezzas for now, and when i get my body kit, i will paint the kit, the lights and any part of the car that needs it as well (definitly both bumpers and maybe hood and stock bottom side pieces)

You can just order the aerosol cans with your paint code.

So what's the procedure (is it reversable)? What brand of red vinyl and where is it obtainable?

mount a couple clear led's in the brakelight or something, and then just red the rest of the lights

Find a hobby store and ask for "red translucent vinyl tape". It should be a big long rectangular sheet.. that's more than enough for each taillight. Just pour soapy water over the red tails (no need to take out tails.. just do it while it's on). After pouring the soapy water on the tails, apply the red vinyl tape. Just use a credit card to edge away the water from the sides and continue to do so. When you get to the end curved part of the tails, use a heatgun or blow dryer to get the vinyl real hot so it stretches and stretch it out as far as u can around the curve so no bubbles appear. After that, just cut the excess out.

Basically, you are doing a tint job to your tails... requires the same exact procedures. Also, yes, the project is reversable, you just peal off the sticker.. if there is anything left behind due to the adhesive from the sticky part of the tape... just use "goo off" or something like that haha. You know, the stuff you use when you take off your emblems. Good luck

well, today is the day, i can get the carbon altezzas shipped for $150 or so. I really dont like the stock "stipe" lights (even red\clears that much), and i think that the carbon altezzas dont look as cheap as the chrome ones. so... unless anyone wants to convince me otherwise, i am ordering tonight. I may paint them down the road, but have no plans in the immediate future.

In order to do that correctly, you need to swap your trunk to a 97 style also. This is because of the little dip in the 95-96's trunk and (don't quote me) but I believe the inner tail light is longer on the 97 also.

i was tossing around the idea of tinting my chrome altezzas red or smoke. if any of you saw the type-s kit pictures when they first got it on, i liked the way those looked. also, couldn't you use spray tint too?
