Is this a sign of tranny going out?

Keep in mind this only happens in 4th gear. When I am cruising along in 4th gear, doesnt matter the rpms or speed, and I let off the accel. my shifter actually moves forward about half an inch. Then when I press the accel. again it moves back. Weird huh? Only happens in 4th, all my other gears are tight (tight like a tiger ) Any idea why this happens? I am worried about the dreaded 4th gen, 5spd, shim, bearing problem. My '95 has about 96k miles on it.
