Auto--> 5 Spd

I have a 1995 GLE so its automatic, i did a lot of mods and put a lot of money into it! I love my max, but i just wish i had stick for so many reasons. I get all depressed and s**t. So for all you maxima owners out there who have 5 spds,do you think it would be worth it to sell my max and just get her in stick, is it really a HUGE benifit in performance if i had stick over auto? Thanx for your time.

I think the 5spd is .5 - 1 second faster in the 1/4 mile (assuming you can drive it).

I was thinking the same thing I really want a 95-96 5spd there is such a huge difference with the 5spd but I have a fully loaded midnight blue 95 se but in auto beautiful condtion, is it worth it to transfer all the stuff I have in it and give it up for a 5spd

The 2 or 3 people that I know did it... liked it.

BUT.. they had many problems...like months after the intial change chasing down leaks... linkages were not correct.. stuff like that..

If you search you should be able to find what your looking for

Or maybe PM some of the people from the search result

i have a 95 GLE also. If you CAN sell your car for the price you want to sell it for and get moneys worth for mods and all, then sell the car and get a 5 speed. But if the only way you can sell your car is by dropping it thousands of dollars below resale value even with the many mods u have on it because u have high mileage, i recommend converting...

Man I'm glad I went with the 5 speed. I could barely drive the thing when I bought it. The dealer was on a road where cars go about 55-60 miles an hour, and you have to pull out of their driveway at 0mph...I had to have my father drive it out because I was afraid I would stall and get rear ended. I spent half the night smoking the tires across intersections when people pulled up too close behind me. It was scary...but I'm glad I suffered...I almost listened to my parents and bought an auto.

I don't know about the speed aspect of it (don't really race much and have never raced another max) but I can tell you for sure that there is nothing you can do in an auto to match the feeling of hitting a perfect heel-and-toe downshift as you enter a tire squealing second gear corner on a 2 lane. Rowing your way through a twisty road with lots of uuuuuups and dooooooowns is off the hook. Hmmmmm...maybe I'll go take a ride...

What are you talking about man? Didn't you read my huge post of converted auto-->5spd's?

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ight=converted

BTW, my car is running great, much thanks to Chaz-man. The only deal I have is the CE-L light which could be fixed if I switched ECU's.

Re: Auto--> 5 Spd

in my mind, the only downfall of sticks are that if you break your left ankle, or something like that, you can't really drive. unless you have another car that is auto. i have a 5 spd, and i live at home still, so if i did break my ankle, i could borrow my dad's truck.

Becuase Chaz is a lazy bastard. He said it would take a few more hours if we did it...in fact i'm gonna email him and tell him to reserve that damn thing.

Good call Chris.

Do it fast, I had a big *** dent on my door, and chaz switched out my door, with the door on the donor car u used for your 5 speed conversion. Before I did it, on the phone he mentioned that if I want to do it, I need to do it fast, because he has to give the car back soon ??
I don't know what that is about, but if so, e-mail him fast to see if he has the car still.

i think u have to get the same one from the same year as your car u know? like exact everything? not sure but i think that's how it works...before putting it in, u should talk to him and see if u need exact production date and all. That's what i got but light still on cause of some BS problems not involved with conversion...
