Buy Intake or Y-Pipe first?

I would really like to do both at once, but budget prevents that.

So which is a better first buy... intake or y?

For intake i think im going to get a CAI or Hybrid and for Y either Warpspeed or Cattman... depends on $$ flow.

Thanks
BG

In my opinion, get the Y pipe so you wont lose low end while you're waiting for the other part. Give you a deeper tone too i bet.

I had the intake put on first, but I did not notice any major gains. I then bought the Y/B pipes. Definite gains in the higher rpm range.
I have recently taken off the intake to sell it. With just the Y/B I can still feel the great pull over 3/4K so I would say go with
the Y-pipe first!!! I do plan on adding another intake but it
will be the Injen when cash is available

Good Luck!

Sound faster - Intake
Be faster - Y-pipe

Until you free up the exhaust the intake will give very small gains, it still sounds good though.

cheaper

well unless you can put on the stuff yourself, wait to get them put on at the same time...it's cheaper. but if you're like me and want mods RIGHT NOW, y-pipe is definately the mod of choice among members.

y pipe will give you best performance gain, but i think CAI is the best starter. you say your on a tight budget, so why spend almost $300 on a warpspeed or catmann y-pipe when you could get a stainless steel budget y-pipe for less than $200. and it gives same performance gains i cant wait for mine

I bet I could get an intake AND y-pipe for $355

nudge nudge..>>> warpspeedperformance.com

I have the WSP Y-pipe it will be the best choice. I am very particular with the Max and this part fits like stock. search it will prove itself...

RUST!

I am buying a nicer SS ypipe so it will last longer before rusting...

I have read many horror stories from the cheaper ones rusting through.

Also i want to avoid the "Flex pipe" and thin walled pipe that seems to go hand in hand with the "Buzzing ****ed off bees in a can sound"

bg

And i really like the idea of a near free intake ... ive seen parts of the instructions on how to use stock airbox to make adapter for a conefilter... but i want a more finished look... and those homemade ones probably wont give as good gains.
