APEX WS Exhaust install question/problems! HELP
put on my Apexi WS cat-back tonight and was confused. right behind the cat is the o2 sensor plugged into a piece of pipe. clearly the apexi doesn't have a place for the sensor and we also couldln't get the damn sensor out of the piece of pipe
so we cut the wires to the sensor and said F-it. Now what SHOULD i have done since there is no place for the sensor anyway? Plus, now i'm getting a service engine light b/c of the lack of the sensor. Thoughts/opinions. I'm a little annoyed that I just paid for this damn thing and it doesn't fit EXACTLY like I want it to/how it should.

Jeez, dude...you CUT the wires to the rear O2 sensor and said F-it? Ummm....yeah, doing that WILL set off a code. My advice? Reconnect the O2 sensor, drill a bung hole in the b-pipe for it, connect it, and all you probs will be solved. Good luck.

Can i have the sensor hole drilled at a regular muffler shop?
The Apexi catback was designed for '95-'96 Maximas which have the rear O2 sensors in their cats. You will have to drill in the stock O2 sensor because you have a '98. Unfortunatley because you cut it you will definitely set off the CEL, and caused a little more work for yourself because you will have to reattach it.

you will enjoy the sound of the apex WS once it is installed. It is very quiet at idle but really comes to life around 3k-5k RPM. I really cant hear my exhaust anymore after about 4k RPM because of my intake, but i recall the apex really growling at about 3k and taking off from there when I didnt have my intake.
Oh yea, you wont feel anything performance wise from your butt-dyno.

apexi ws vs greddy sp...tough choice! I'll take 1 of each and do a true dual exhast from the head. Heehee.
As for the O2 sensor, I used a crescent wrench and a lotta force. Drilling the new hole might be tough cuz the pipe's round. I'd start with a pilot hole (small diameter bit) and work your way up. If you can't get the small bit to go, try making an intentation on the pipe with a nail and hammer. That should keep the bit centered while you get started.
Good luck and let us know how it goes (cuz I got a 97 max and dunno if i'm going custom or prefab catback)

I had to do the same thing to my Apexi exhaust. I had to drill a hole and then weld in a nut the size of a 18M with a 1.5m pitch. And got some high temp paint and sprayed it on the newly welded nut. It's been two weeks now and so far so good, no CEL for me.

I had an exhaust shop put a new hole in when my early warpspeed y-pipe holw was way off. The welded a new threaded fitting on - that's probably better than just drilling a whole.

thanks guys.
I have a question. The bpipes of the Apexi WS, are they connected by flanges or are they welded together? Or is it just a 1 piece design? I'm asking this because some guys have leaks with courtesy or stillen bpipes, where the flanges meet.
