Not sure if this was discussed but I'm probably going to get the VB mod for my car and looking for a good tranny cooler to go along with it. Any ideas and where to get it... Thanks, David.

Put a B&M #264 in yesterday. Offers the most cooling in the smallest package. Also seemed to be the most well-built.

I bought mine for $50 at jegs.com. I also had to buy about 4 extra feet of hose from pep-boys. On the 2k2 Auto, the line on top of the transmission is the return line; I would suspect it would be the same but make sure first!

I used the 404 Hayden cooler, it works ok; costs about 60 bucks for all the parts (MAKE SURE TO GET TRANNY HOSE NOT FUEL LINE HOSE, EVEN IF THEY SAY ITS TRANNY HOSE HAVE THEM DOUBLE, NO TRIPLE CHECK IT!!!). They orginally gave me fuel line and I didnt know it till I got home and had my car apart.

However I removed the cooler after a month of having it installed, I was thinking of getting another car (5 spd 4th gen) and I didnt like the way it shifted. For reasons I cant explain throughly the tranny shifted harder but alot faster than stock, my only theory was the tranny fluid was cooler and helped it shift faster; the cooler was installed properly with good tranny fluid flow and no leaks or kinks in the hoses. Anyhow I didnt like the way it shifted so I removed the cooler and the shifting went back to the stock feel, however it was slow again.

But if your gonna get the VB mod then you wont mind the change in shifting feel. So all in all my opinion is that the 404 Hayden is a good cooler to use.

So, what should I get the Hayden or the B&M.

Both are within the same price range so the price is not a factor. I'm getting the VB mod so differences in shifting are expected. Also, if I go with the B&M which one should I get since there are like 6 different variations. Ok, going to go fix my antena that motor is acting up. Will check the board later, Thanks.

I got the largest B&M they make for road use, the 264. I used Jeg's and they shipped it to my door in under 48 hours. I've never gotten anything that fast! Many here use the Hayden 404, it seems like a decent cooler; I believe that it's not quite as efficient as the B&Ms. Also the Haydens and B&Ms are really two different beast; if you look closely at the two they are made very differently. I bought the B&M because there is a built in bypass that lets already cold fluid run straight through. This eliminated having to warm up the car in the winter time in order to be able to shift into 4th. I don't believe the Hayden has this, but I could be wrong...

Alrighty, great news replaced my anttena and the thing works very smooth. I took apart the gears etc and oiled them up, very nice and smooth now. I'm going to order the B&M 264 next week. Thanks everyone.

Kit includes:two 4' pieces of high temperature/pressure 11/32'' oil hose, cooler mounting brackets, heavy duty stainless steel hose clamps, brass fittings and all necessary mounting hardware.

The B&M 264 comes with all the necessary hardware (mounting brackets, screws, various hose adapters (not needed)). Really the only thing else you need may be more hose (I required about 3' more on my 5th gen). The hose size is 11/32".

I got the B&M Hi-Tek Tranny Cooler SuperCooler 24,000 GVW from Jeg's when I did my VB mod. This is a small cooler compared to the others. But it's very efficient and does a awesome job.
