SC guys should i get an Oil cooler ?

Ok guys, im currently saving up for a VI and a new Stillen V2 Kit as opposed to the turbo(i could get it installed and all the extras for the same price as just the turbo plus i dont need to get so boost happy i blow the motor). Im trying to learn all i can about the whole setup. My question is i know that the SC will heat things up a bit so would an oil cooler like the one stillen sells be beneficial with the SC? Would it cool the oil sufficiently and prolong its life? Id like to take every precaution on my VQ seeing that shes nearing 95k miles. Thanks!

yea. oil cooler never HURT anyone. but with the SC. oil cooler could be beneficial. but not really necessary. the stillen one is hella $$$$. you can make one yourself cheaper.

but remember. radiator, oil cooler (tranny cooler if auto) and then intercooler. is lotza coolers but not enuf front bumber space.. choose wisely.

And how does one go about making their own oil cooler?

Good Idea

Definitely

Yes, it will keep the oil that lubricates the blower bearings cool. Remember, heat is our enemy, boosted or not.

I have the Permacool Oil Cooler kit. $100 from Jegs or Summit Racing. WORTH IT...IMHO.

Good Luck to you.

I would be more worried about the SC falling apart than about the oil temp getting too high... I suggest you get an oil temp and oil pressure gauge and watch to see how things go - if you get too hot then get the oil cooler - IMO you won't need one unless you race your car at track days or drive on the street like you are at one.
