injen vs. frankencar
injen vs. frankencar
anyone in here had both frankencar and injen CAI befor? i searched and found differant opinions, millions needless to say, but i havent really talked to anyone whose had them both and told me their opinion of it...so far ive come to the conclusion that the franken car puts out better sound but power wise i should go with the CAI? thanks everyone
It's confusing
CAI draws in cool air but it is said that the tube becomes restricting at high speeds.
The argument that the air in the tube creates a ram effect is just not true without a carb, if the tube is air tight, the air moving through the tube will be at the same speed that it moves through the filter.
A pop charger has no tube but gets air from in the engine bay.
A frankencar has a tube and gets air from inside the engine bay, it seems that it has both disadvantages, most of the gains are probably from the upgraded filter.
I would go with the CAI

It all have to do with were in the RPM range you want power. Longer pipe at the same diameter will resonate at lower RPM, creating pressure waves that actually pushes air into engine. Low RPM power, Injen. Mid RPM power, Frankencar. High RPM power, pop charger.

If you look at the Frankencar dyno charts, the increase in hp is still very high in the RPM range. But what can you do? If you look under you hood, there is no more room to increase the length of the intake pipe. Unless you put bends in it like Injen or PR.
Ahhh, maybe if I move the battery to the trunk and increase that mid pipe a few more inches.

Question for people with the injen intake
For people with the injen intake, can it be turned into a HAI during winter when there's a lot of rain or whatever? The reason why I ask is because since it requires no drilling, I was wondering about the angling for the filter. Thanks.
