97 SE spd-black. Anybody out there know if I can just buy replacement bulbs for the "clearance lamps" on my frt end? These are the lights right next to the heads. I would like to get some bulbs that match the brightness of the 9004s. Also thinking about rewiring my fogs and getting some of those LED bulbs for the tails. Probably going to clear the yellow out of the rear when the weather gets warmer. Has anyone had problems with rewired fogs?

If you want your corner lights to match the headlights better, i would suggest to rewire the corner lights to use the brighter filament, i haven't had any problems with this nor with my rewired fogs.. you can find directions on how to do this at http://web2.airmail.net/scutchen/max_faq/

If you want them brighter then you have to rewire them. The maxima uses 1157 size bulbs the the corner lights. These bulbs are dual filament, so when you rewire the housing it uses the brighter of the two filaments. So don't get bulbs that are too bright. I'm getting a pair of polarg superwhites (21w/5w) so when I rewire them it won't be too bright.

I have a 97'and this is what I did!
Take the lens out. Remove the bulb from the socket.Take a small flathead srewdriver and pry up on the little black plastic piece while pushing up on the wire in the back(black with the red stripe). This wire is the to work with. The other wire(black) is just a ground and there is no need to mess with it. The wire(black with red stripe)is soldered to the back of the little black plastic piece. Cut this wire off of where it is soldered to,keep up with the spring so you won't forget it. This
wire will be spliced to the other connection. I drilled a hole straight through the other side, through the solder and all and I took apart and old fuse holder, the flat
sides that look like a nail head this is where the contact point of the bulb will be. Drill a hole big enough in the plastic to slide the wire from the fuse holder through
about 18 ga. size. Splice the fuse holder wire with a butt splice to the wire(black with red stripe). Slide everything back into place and you should be set. The bulb
should shine brighter than it did in the beginning. All we are doing is lighting up the high side on this dual filament bulb,by swapping contact points in the socket.
You should also get the superwhite XENON #1157 bulbs it will be real nice and bright and looks real good. Here..... The bulbs in the clear front bumper lenses are #194

Do a search on "corner" and you'll see every OTHER newbie that asks the same darn Q over and over and over.....

I predict to hear this again twice more before 1/1/00!!
