BLACKED OUT MY CHROME TRIM
I was not real crazy about the chrome which surrounds the doors on my GLE.
Last week I picked up a product which is used to black out chrome on cars.
The product is called Trimbrite, comes in 20 ft rolls and sells for about $4.23 at Advance Auto Parts.
The whole process took about two hours with the curved part of the trim being the hardest to do. I may redo it but for now I will leave what I have on.
If you look in my sig pic below, you will see the chrome outline around the front and back windows. That is now gone and these pieces are now black.
If you decide to do this mod you will need:
- 2 rolls of Trimbrite
- razor knife
- bright lighting
- some time and some patience to make it look right
This requires a steady hand and some time. Trimming the Trimbrite after placing it over the chrome pieces takes some time and you want to leave a slight overlap as it will contract and expand in the sun.
Do not do this in direct sunlight. You want your car to be cool and out of the heat. Also, clean your chrome prior to placing the material on it to guarantee good adhesion.
I will post some pics when my car is clean. I will also be posting some pics from when myself and REDMAXpa007 installed our B & M tranny coolers, parts etc.

I am not sure if I will change those or not. A black max looks so much better with the door chrome blacked out..

I guess it's what you're going for. If you like the sporty look, the blacked out will look better. If you want the classy/luxury look, the chrome looks better. (A Cadillac has a lot of chrome, a Porsche doesn't)
