2000 Bose system in a 98.

Has anyone installed a 2000 CD/Tape Bose system into a 98 GXE Maxima? Is there any special configurations since the 98 did not have a Bose system? Thanks.

It will not work. I install for a living. Save your money and do not buy the Bose radio if your car did not come with one. There is more to the Bose than just the Radio. You have the amplified speakers, the cables and wires. It's not worth it. Buy aftermarket stuff.

The '98 didn't have a Bose available?

But will a 5th gen bose headunit work with and fit in a 4th gen that came with bose? Just wondering. I personally like my Bose unit. I had to have the CD mechanism repaired which cost around $200.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know what other Nissan Factory models will fit work in a 98 GXE? I want to keep it with a factory radio, preferably with tape and CD since my original tape deck broke. Other model such a Altima, sectra.. or other years of Maxima. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure in 98 the headunits were the same for a ton of Nissan Co cars. I've ridden in a Q45 with the same headunit as mine

I'd ask your dealer, or one of the dealers on here to tell you what model # you can use and go by that.

I'd bet it would. The Y2K Maxi's I've had as rentals had visually identical Bose head units as my 99 SE-L. The front speaker positions are better on a Y2K than a 4th gen, IMHO. The rears appeared to have different looking grilles, but there may be more to them than that..
