Nissan horn is lousy. What is a good replacement?
I know this is lame, but I HATE the Nissan horn. Talk about wimpy. It really sucks. Plus I have the dealer-instelled Karr alarm, and when I arm the alarm the horn honks (also when I unarm it), and the horn is just SO... I don't even know what you'd call it. It's just wimpy and quiet and I hate it. It sounds like a gameshow buzzer. (it could be that something is just wrong with my horn, but I don't think so. It seems like all foreign car horns are that way.) A guy in a big panel van cut me off the other day (forced my over two lanes of traffic and didn't realize he was doing it) and I could have sworn he could not hear my horn.
Now that I've ranted about the Nissan horn... what is a good replacement for it? I don't want an air horn or anything, I just want a more normal sounding horn. Something that does not sound like a buzzer under water. I want to be able to take out the old horn and just plug in a new one.

just cruise down to Pep Boys or Auto Zone or whatever is in your area and pick up the replacement horns they sell there. I got mine at PB and I believe one is "E" tone and one is "F" tone. They are much louder than OEM and they sound like your average Buick or Chevy or whatever (a normal horn sound). Direct replacement, no wiring/relays/any of that crap. Should cost ~$20-$25 for the pair.

Try some Hella Supertones, there are a couple guys in town with these and they are LOUD! I'm talking like old people wet themselves and the trees shatter loud.
I know Susquehanna MotorSports carries them, but pretty much any performance shop should be able to get them.

Re: Nissan horn is lousy. What is a good replacement?
I bought Hella Autobahn horns from Griots and they are pricy but great. They sound more European than anything and are loud. I have the factory alarm which uses one horn inside the engine bay. The other factory horn was mounted behind the grill. I mounted both Hella horns behind the grill and hooked up the second horn to the extra wire that normally powers the second horn for the non-alarm model. These horns are loud but not so loud to be obnoxious. Most people who ride with me comment on how loud they are....I must be getting used to them!

Can you describe the sound? and how is the install, is it straight plug and play? how about the relay that it comes with?
