Getting 3-4 Mpg's more without intake

Getting 3-4 Mpg's more without intake
I have been driving exactly the same as I did when I had my Franken intake and I am getting 23-24Mpg as compared to 18-20Mpg with the intake.
I guess it's possible that I don't rev as high because I know that great Roar of the Franken isn't there anymore (saving for an INJEN!.) I could swear though that I am still driving the same.

I have to agree with boo. I removed my JWT pop and replaced it with the stock box. The results....I gained mpg from 23-24 to 26-27. Another gain is low end...much easier to pull into traffic. But you loose top end...oh well. I find lower/mid much more useful in day to day driving. And if I want to go like a bat outa hell I have my Z...power everywhere

In reality, you get better mileage with the intake. It has less restriction.

you need to balance this with more gas producing less MPG's or
would the combination produce a more efficient burn allowing less gas to achieve the same speeds/acceleration?(I'm definitely not an engineer just curious!)
Thanks,

Re: Getting 3-4 Mpg's more without intake
MPG is only accurate when the data collected isn't biased; e.g. try to average your mileage between 3-4 tanks and then compare to the mileage you got with the intake.

after the intake was removed and I'm still seeing better MPG's.
This of course is good! I am driving more aggressively on this latest tank to see the differences.

Print the first dyno graph
Then Print the second
Now over lay them and you can see other than right at 3800 (when it goes back to stock), your losing power from 2500 to 5000 rpm when compared to the stock box. But to it's credit it does make gains after five thousand. And lets call it what it is, a short ram, or a hybrid of the downfalls of a CAI and Popcharger, heat from the engine, and piping.
To my knowledge a midpipe was R&D for a CAI, this midpipe is not a magic length for optimal gains by itself, that was not considered in it's development.
Here is a link of another over lay, I just wish I had one for the PR, or cattman CAI.
