Do you mean Air Filter?

Fuel - I would go with Nissan manufactured.

just replaced mine 2 days ago

with nissan factory oem part....with parts like fuel filters, oil filters and such, i find it best to replace with oem parts simply for the fact that they were sent from nissan with that part, so it must be designed to do the job.

BTW... K+N does make a cleanable fuel filter.

I say go with OEM. I bought a Purilator. Works fine.

How often are you supposed to replace this? I have like 70k on my car and i dont believe its ever been replace. Also what is the advantage of the 300zx filter? could someone give a little more info on that?

15k for an OEM maxima fuel filter. Supposedly 30k for a 300zx fuel filter. The 300zx fuel filter has about twice the surface area of a maxima fuel filter so it'll last about twice as long. The only benefit of using a 300zx FF is that it'll last twice as long, so you don't have to change it as often.

What changes will you notice after replacing a fuel filter? My 97 has 113,000 and the filter has never been changed.

It's not 15K for an OEM fuel filter, its 30K. This 30K interval is per the owner's manual and the Haynes manual.

What do you mean, mrgeek? You cleaned the fuel, air and oil filters. I think you meant replaced right.

if ur thing is still dissambled or uve done all the begining work allready...u gotta losen that clamp somehow...try putting ur arm from below before all the wirse (if u removed the stuff up to the tb) thats wat ihad to do...

next time im gonna find how much the dealer wants for it...it might be worth going there to save all the hassles...ull cut ur arms good too

Yeah, I tried coming up from below, but I had no movement, and couldnt really get to it anyways. I agree, I'll probably save it for the dealership. My hands are shredded.

the way i got it was...(called my neighbour whos a mechanic and mechanical engineer or something...hes got a full basement of tools...quite conveniant for me) and he came over and he went from underneath with some tool...only enough room to get it loosened...and we pulled HARD for about 30 mins?we didnt get gas on our hands that instant...but the filter holds in a **** load of gas...dont be fooled...it wouldnt stop pooring gas when tilted...LITERALLY wouldnt stop...so when i was cleaning up and i lifted it thinking it was empty got that **** poured on me...I dont know why nissan put the filter there...(not to mention my clamp was facing in wards to the car...making it harder) but a honda civic has it placed at such an easy place...just as easy as filling up washer fluid...***leaves room and cries***

p.s. yes dirtysouthmax

Wait, I have a 99. If I get the 300zx filter, which year filter do I get? The 96? What is the part number? Also, does anyone else have more information on why the 300zx filter is superior? So it has more surface area? Does if fit correctly on the max? Will i get better gas Mileage with the 300zx filter? Any info would be great. Thanks.

yup get the 96 year 300zx fuel filter. it will fit. but if you have ABS it will be a tight squeeze to get in there. and yes u might have improved gas mileage.
