rewire for altezzas... how do I fix?

For anyone who has swapped the parking light for the signal light in the back because of Altezza's bass-ackward design... I switched the wires so that my signals are on the outer light, but now they blink really fast. This I do not like. I'm assuming this is because the bulbs are diffent and they're drawing the wrong current. Does anyone know how to fix this? If not, I think I'll just switch them back. I would rather lose the outer light than have my signals blink real fast. Before when I had that outer bulb connected, I was stopped with a couple warnings because in NJ you're not allowed to have any white lights constantly on facing the rear (or so 2 different officers have told me).

I dunno about 2nd gen, but on the 1st gens the signal light fits behind the red circle instead of the small light on the side. I thought it would make more sense for the signals to be the small lights on the outside... other people have complained about this too, because then that bulb is on all the time and cops can pull you over for having a white bulb facing the back.

A) get a red 194 bulb into the little socket in the corner, or
B) pull out the wiring for it, so it remains in the trunk, and not in the spot for it
