I think all of them are pretty good, I know stillen, greddy, and warpspeed make b pipes. Im wondering if any of these can bolt straight onto a stock muffler, anyone????

The Stillen, Warpspeed, and the Courtesy pipes bolt-on. I know the Apexi needs the matching muffler, though I'm not sure about Greddy.

I got Budget's b-pipe. It goes straight from the hi-flow cat to the muffler (no resonator either). If you want to see pics of Budget's pipe, see pg. 5 on my cardomain homepage.

Yup. Got Budget y-pipe as well. Their b-pipe is 2.5" i.d. mandrel bent. To be honest, I'm not sure what a muffler shop would offer in way of a regular straight pipe. I don't think they'd offer you a mandrel-bent pipe to begin with. Doesn't the term "straight pipe" normally refer to the section that replaces the cat? Or am I mistaken.

A mandrel is a thing that's inserted into the pipe that's being bent. It goes into the spot where the bend is to be made in the pipe. Its purpose is to prevent kinks from forming on the inside of the pipe.

A non-mandrel bent pipe will have "wrinkles" on the inside of the pipe where the bend is. It's like the inside of an "elbow straw". The elbow has an accordian shape to it. On the inside, there are the "wrinkles" as I described. These prevent smooth flow of exhaust through the pipe as little vortices or swirls pockets of exhaust occur around these wrinkles. I hope I've described this clearly!

Sorry, I don't know zippo about autozone's regular pipe.

What did you pay for your entire exhaust system? I was quoted $1050 CDN for a mandrel bend 2.25 inch 304 stainless exhaust including y-pipe, b-pipe, high flow cat and muffler by brulin exhaust. do you think that would make as much power as a stillen or cattman of the same diameter?

Are there any members in the toronto area?

so my question is.........
is b-pipe made out same as regular pipe that muffler shop uses? or does it have something special? can i just go to any muffler shop and have them put regular pipe with aftermarket muffler? would that be same as b-pipe? i know that some b-pipe comes with resonator what is difference in b-pipe with/without resonator. so custom catback = aftermarket muffler with pipe coming from cat?

thanks,
Tae

A lot of shops won't do mendral bent w/o a good price. Yes, if you have a shop custom make a pipe from your cat to your muffler, that is just the same as a b-pipe. Catback means the combo of B-pipe and muffler. The resonator muffles the sound out, it doesn't affect performance at all. I have Stillen B-pipe and Stillen SS muffler, it was too loud so I had a resonator put it, muffled the sound and actually got some low end back.

<-----See page 5 of my homepage, I have pics for my Stillen B and muffler and stock B pipe comparison

I did a swap/sale deal with Jime. I got his whole system from manifold back fro C$560 + my oem exhaust system. That includes my portion of the labour cost to do the swap. I think Jime invested about ~C$1,080 into his system. But note that Brullen's system is 2.25" i.d. vs. Budget's 2.5" which results in smaller cross-sectional area in the piping. Sorry, I don't know the specifics of Stillen/Cattman's systems so I can't comment on who's is better.

As for Toronto members, there's a good handful. Drop by the Cdn. forum & introduce yourself sometime!

cheers

I think the answer will really depend on which muffler shop you ask. Talk to different muffler shops (better ones!) to see what exactly they offer.
