What functions can our stock remote perform?

I didn't even know that my GXE had keyless entry until I was re-doing the trunk interior and found the headunit. I know that pressing down the lock button once will unlock my door, pressing twice will unlock all of them, but I just found out that holding it down will make my windows (front only) go down, what other tricks do I not know?

pfft, the keyless on my third gen could do the sunroof too! maybe that's a mod I will endeavor one day.. make the keyless window rolldown also open the sunroof While I'm on the topic, are there any good writeups on the factory alarm and wiring? If I had the $$ at the moment, i'd just get some better aftermarket alarm. But.. so it goes..

On my old maxima (Viper Alarm) I could start it, roll all 4 windows down, roll all 4 up, and turn it off. That was a fun toy for messing with little old ladys at Krogers!

The 2k and 2k1 lost the window feature.

I'm glad they returned it on the 2k2+.
But seriously, why not make them remotely go up too?

Jamsan I don't even show people my windows can remotely go down, because they always ask to see them go back up!

oops lol

I bought my maxima used and like... the buttons were worn off so i didn't know there were icons

I didn't know about the dome light feature! thanks

My old 89 celica had the most pimp keyless entry.... althouh it was aftermarket. I had control to every freakin thing. I don't like the window feature, i don't know how long to hold it if i want it to open just a crack. Also, it'd be cool to be able to wind em up!

The factory alarm sucks for lacking 2 very important features.

1. it does NOT auto lock doors, so if you forget to lock them yourself when you close the doors, you're screwed. The dome light goes off after a while but it doesn't lock?!?! It's a pain cause aftermarket alarms have auto lock which I'm so use to..

2. it can NOT beep the horn when u arm/disarm..

Does anyone know of a way around this??

who'd want to hear that ****ty wimp horn of ours everytime u lock ure car??

I had the auto lock feature before on the other car but it gets annoying when u turn off the car, have the pasenger get out to do something... when they open and shut their door the auto lock arms and then u gotta disarm the damn thing... too much of a hassle.

Both of these features are programmable on the 2k2. I suspect the same is true for the 4th gens as well. Anything in the manual?

What? I hate cars that chirp and beep when you arm it. I also hate cars that decide when to lock the doors. I want it to lock and unlock doors only when I tell it to.

1) screw auto locking doors
2) if you do a search, you will find a writeup for including a chirp (not horn) when you lock the car. It's a $5 mod. All you need is a relay and a decent piezo buzzer of frequency you like.

On a 2k2 you can wind them up by inserting the key in the driver's side (there is no keyhole on the pass side, same for 4th gens?) and turning it to the lock position and holding for 3 seconds.

This I am not making up...

so i needed an alarm ASAP because punk kids already tried breaking into my baby, so i installed some old Black Widow alarm in the interest of time (once i can save up more than 400, i'll get something better). i was wondering if, at this point in time before getting a better alarm that i can't afford, i can wire it so that the stock remote "goodies" still work, and so i don't have to carry around the stock remote and the aftermarket one?
