Another Happy Budget Owner
First off, I would like to clarify...THERE IS NO BEES IN THE CAN SOUND, you feel gains after 3k rpms, but I loss low end and I'm thinking that when my ecu adjust, I will regain it.
The install took about 3 hours because the nut connecting the pipe to the cat was rusted on badly, even with penetrating oil. The manifold flange nuts were hard to take off also, but half as hard as the cat nuts. After we got the stock one off, the Budget fit right in because it was lighter and did not have 20 heat sheilds to cut you all over the place. The only place of concern is the stock hanger that holds the cat and ypipe after the flex section. You need to bend the hanger a little and force it in.
I pulled 0505 from my ecu, which means everything is fine, and then I reset my ecu. I started the car and immediately noticed a little deeper idle. It sounded dam tight!!! Then all of a sudden, smoke started to come out of the car. Guess where the smoke came from? It was from the flanges of the pipe because there was a lot of left over penetrating oil that was burning off.
I lowered the car back, and pulled out of my driveway. Just tapping the gas, I hear a slightly deeper rumble, nothing too annoying. At the first stop sign, I floor it and immediately notice a little loss in low end, but right when it went pass 3k rpms, you notice a hugh difference in pull. When if first floored it on a roll from 20mph, I seriously said "O ****." While driving on the highway and flooring it, you hear a slight hiss with the windows open, which sounds like you are boosted
I heard that it takes around 500 miles for my ecu to adjust, so I think I will get my low end back. Whenever I gas it 1/4 way, I can't squeel my tires anymore. When I drive with the radio on and floor it all the way, you only notice that it is a little louder, but its a different story outside. All in all, there is no annoying sound comming from the pipe and if you drive with the radio on, no one will really notice you have a ypipe, but thats a different story to the poor rice boy in the car next to you when you are at WOT.
Time to decide on and get an intake...

I got my pipe in the other day, but I plan to install it tomorrow myself. When I got the package my diamond gasket was stuck to the tape, and I ripped it off. And now it looks all messed up. Do I need a new one and what are the exact instructions. I'm a newb, only had my car for a month.
You should get a Frankencar hybrid intake, should give you a nice little boost all over the powerband. (maybe help with the low end problem if the ECU doesn't compensate in full)
DUnno, i've never been a fan of the CAI because in my mind the hybrid is just 'better '
Peace

Holy ****!!!!! Everytime I turn my car on, it feels faster. I floored it up my Dorm's parking lot ramp and the tires were nearly breaking lose. Low end is still missing, but not as much as the first day I installed it. Can't wait to get my intake in the comming weeks, I just need to decide on which one to get. This is by far the best $158 I've ever spent!!
HTOWN: I think the gasket will be fine, just install it and listen for leaks. Don't forget to wipe off excess penetrating oil befor starting the car
The budget fits well and doesn't leak, good luck.

Yes, an intake is the next logical mod. I'll warn you though, you get used to the new-found power pretty quickly. I did!! There are times when I wished I had bigger brakes.

Also, are u guys running y pipes with out without aftermarket mufflers. Is it ok to reset my ecu by just unplugging the battery terminals?
Oh yeah and how much did you all pay for labor??

I say the loss of low end is imagination. I launch dead even with every other stock max out there- then adios to them.
Y-pipe with stock muffler = nice and quiet.
Y-pipe with aftermarket straight through muffler = nice low tone.
The larger sized B-pipe is where the loudness really comes from.
Just reset the ECU using the ECU. The battery thing is bogus. There is really no need to reset it though it will remap itself just as quick wether you reset it or not.
Labor - for a Y-pipe install - should run around 50 provided the stock one doesnt require the jaws of life to remove.

No the muffler wont add much if anything. The stock is pretty efficient and the aftermarket is basically to change the looks and or tone a little bit.
Loud Bpipe is not worth it - 2.5" as compared to stock - It is LOUD. With a resonator It would quiet down some, but still be louder than stock.
'
As far as mufflers - I've been through the stock one, a flowmaster, and now Im on a straight through universal style. My exaust is LOUD. Thanks to the b-pipe. When I had Ypipe --> stock bpipe --> aftermarket muffler it was perfect. I tried to scrap up every extra pony available with the bpipe and I am paying for it with my headaches.

I think I'm going to stick with stock everything except for ypipe. Thank you again.
