Is Courtesy trying to screw me or what?!?!?
Is Courtesy trying to screw me or what?!?!?
ok, so my check engine light comes on and I kinda freak out. I act like a good ORG member and search and use the FAQ and such. Code 0407 - "Crankshaft Position Sensor." Now for those of you who may be asking.... haven't we seen this before... YES! I've posted twice about this and I finally calmed down.
So today (10/18) I dropped off my car at Courtesy Nissan here in Richardson, TX. About an hour later I get a call and the guy tells me exactly what I already knew. So I ask him, what the cost would be total cost, labor and part, to replace the sensor. He tells me that parts and labor is $269! I'm a little shocked, but I'm still ok, so I ask, out of curiousity, what the cost on just the part. He tells me that the part is only $78! So let me get this straight, you want to charge me $190 just to install a small sensor that probably takes all of twenty minutes to install
?!?
My question is, does anyone happen to know where this part is and how easy it could potentially be to replace myself? The $78 for the part is actually cheaper than I had originally thought, but $190 for the install !?? I don't know, but that just sounds not right?
Help me, my max is sick

You might want to try to search before the .org collective jumps all over your a$$.
I recently had the same code and found a bunch of info regarding this. If you do not have one, spend $10 bucks on a Haynes manual. it is extremely helpful and yes, you could do this yourself.
Good luck!

hey guys, thanx a lot. I'm really sorry, but I JUST got my Max and I don't want it to turn into the same situation my Accord was. I love my car, but I don't want it to be a maintenance nightmare.
After posting this thread I went and bought a Hayes manual, but was unsure if it would contain the information to replace this part. Autozone was actually like one dollar cheaper on the part and they had this thing in their system that gave a general location of the part in the engine. I have yet to open the Hayes manual, but from what you guys are saying it should contain instructions on how to replace it.
I'm sorry again, but my paranoia was getting the best of me.
Thanks a $hit load.
