yeah but it's not the same one that he ran 12s in, i bought a few of the mods from his old car, this 99 he is talking about is a stock GXE, the Supra is Sentra is

he told me he blew the motor on the 99 but he ran like 12.4 with it and was amazed at how strong the VQ is, said he could have gone even lower..

It would be fun to see some 11s

 

homey.. it says it in his sig .. 99 Max (12.8 @ 109) .. its the same car ... he did'nt blow the motor.. he was running 100 shot on stock fuel pump and blew the pump.. the motor and car were fine..

 

IIRC, he forgot to put the fuse into the boost'r fuel pump and cracked a piston later on down the road.

Yeah, he said something about running on a stock fuel pump and blowing something, (i thought he said motor) and mentioned it being a lease and having to strip everything off it and bring it back to the dealer to get whatever it was, (thought it was the motor) fixed under warranty.
i thought he said 12.4 though, my bad.

yea, there we go, something like that.. he said he was messing with his stereo and forgot the fuse thing..
i got the impression he returned the car though since it was a lease, or sold it.. unless he completely returned it to stock, i'm talkin hub caps and amber turn signals stock

i really believe Don if he said he ran 12.2.. same with Phil, James, etc... They have been around for a while and people know them, i don't think they'd bullsh!t about their times..

Did he have SC/Turbo? It doesnt say that he did, but I cant see how he could do that unless he had like a 150 shot of nos.

That was my point. Timeslips and videos aren't the end all and be all of proof. I believe Don ran a 12.2 ... some people don't. There is always going to be debate and just because there isn't a timeslip or video, doesn't mean it didn't happen.



Some people just aren't satisfied no matter what.

 

yeah your right...I just like mixing things up a bit... it really makes no diff to me if don did or not.. I hope he did and I hope someone else does..

it helps the entire community more when people do extraordinary things


and IF don did not, not saying he did not, he helped PUSH people to see what the car was capable of... so either way, there was good that came out in the end

 

don along with a bunch more guys like mardigras definately showed us what the vq is capable of and what you can push your car to do. so to all of those guys

the vb mod definately helped. also the VLSD off the I30, the drags, i believe he had a tc. debates been up, so far i've haven't seen anybody "claim" faster times, auto or manual. but i think that he probably could have gotten 12.0 with a stick.

 

You never know though because he could have had a 12.2 time in the auto cant drive a stick for crap and get 13's or whatever. Not saying he cant drive a stick but just saying with a 5 speed it has more variables. Auto would be maybe more consistant, which is why he chose it.

I don't think Don has anything to lie about. Russ has seen the car run at the track and I remember him coming hear riding Don's sac saying that "Don has the fastest Max." This was 2 summers ago. Don is the type of person that wouldn't give out many of his secrets anyway because of all of the leeches around here. Even in that poor vid that some of us have, the car was hauling a$$. Point being nobody can prove he didn't run what he said he did, plus he was running small a$$ 15's on slicks. Russ has those pics and posted them hear.
