Power steering belt

I was changing belts the other day and from the illustration in the Chiltons manual I couldn't locate the power steering pulley locknut. Can anybody help me locate it? VQ30DE engine.

You need to first loosen the power steer pump from a bolt at the rear of the pump. This is not the easiest to get to. While you are under the car, you should see a mechanism that when you turn a bolt clockwise, the pump will pivot up, releasing tension on the belt. Before you turn that bolt, there is a locknut that needs to be released which is visible from the top of the engine, near the power steering reservoir.

The adjusting nut is just to the left of the pulley and pointing down, but you will also have to loosen the bolt that the pump is hanging from. To get to it, you will have to jack up the car, put it on jack stands, remove the right front wheel and the plastic splash guard. Crawl under the car, the bolt is on the back side of the pump at the top.

If you need a diagram, send me an e-mail at tkvezina@***.net and I will send you a JPG from the factory service manual.

Thanks. I've been going through a bunch of search results and just found some pics that help a lot too.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead. I have a 02 maxima with 130k miles on it. When i turn the car on and especially if i turn the wheel (even while in place) i am hearing a fairly loud rubbing noise.

After briefly looking under the hood it looks like it may be belt related. Could this be my PSB and if so, would replacing this fix the noise i am hearing?

Thanks
