Beat a Prelude (one with triangular tail lights)... but no happy

As we raced down the highway he was keeping up surprisingly. I saw an exhaust earlier before when I spotted him and cut him off. My car is stock auto but still he must've done a good amount of work to his car for being a car to two car's length away from me. The only good thing I see out of this is that I could kill him in the long run but in traffic he has a chance, but unfortunately he couldn't make this one cut that I did to still be behind me. But damn, I seriously have to start getting performance mods soon!!

Are you sure that he "couldn't make" it, or just wasn't "Stupid enough" to doit. Think about that one next time you are doing 120mph in a traffic filled highway.

My best run so far was 15.3 in hot humid wheather. I am going to the track next friday, and I hope to break 14's. I know that several guys in this forum have broke 14's STOCK and I have never run below 15.4. Magazine times are not something to rely on.

yeah, maybe a 15.5 with you driving the car... as far as i know the average 5speed max here, in stock form runs as low as 14.7 and most are around 15.1

and even if your statistics were true, 1 tenth of a second by magazine times is to small of a margin, a driver hitting a couple good shifts make that difference up

DTR Maxima sounds right. I have have not taken my 5sp Maxima to the track yet but I bet it will do at least 14.9. Here in Dallas, TX I have taken my 98 Auto Prelude to the track and i ran 15.5 consistantly. I do know that most 5th gen 5sp Preludes in Dallas ran around 14.8-15.3 and 4th gen (triangle Lights)VTEC ran consistant 14.7 probably because the 4th gen was a couple hundred pounds lighter.

Today i spent 8 hours in traffic school in order to waive the possible 1 point that would go on my driving record. (My violation was failure to make a full stop a red light when making a right turn)

Dang you should hear some of the stories they have about all this racing and stuff... one of the students there (like me) had such a tragic story about ppl racing and had killed her husband, 3 kids, and paralyzed her younger son. Just think twice before you randomly cut someone off in order to aggrivate a race. tsk tsk tsk, u should know better!

So true. So maybe a lot of us do a bit of illegal racing here and there. I never do it on a crowded street, and if it happens, it's just me in my max and the other driver in his car on a long empty street with walkie talkies on all corners/turns. So illegal, but i'm takin it to the track now after 2 of my buds have to serve time because they can't come up with the money to pay for street racing tickets here in Cali. They can go up to the $2k range sometimes.

For this thread's originator: As for performance mods... get into 13.5 secs (or maybe even close to 12s) all-motor at the track and that'll be something to brag about here at the .org and be respected for it as well.

Luckily you didn't cut-off into a lane where someone else was merging into. We're just tryin to look out for you bro... don't want anymore RIPs goin around here, but yeah..mod your max and be proud.. get some timeslips and/or drag strip kills and post em! We'd like to hear about those better.

My buddy's '92 Si (non vtec) ran a 15.5 with I/H/E..so your race seems about right.

But next time take your races to the track..
