Hood Scoop Pics (part2)

Here are the pic's . 16 of them. I actually installed this once and had to redo it b/c of the 1/4 inch gap between the scoop and the hood. it now sits flesh with the hood. id recommend having a friend help. it took about 4 hours to mount it and 4 to sand and smooth.
if you have a big compressor though, 4hrs. total.. So let me know if you like or dislike. I am totally against the whole rice_ movement, but i wanted to incorporate something i Haven't seen on the org.
ps.not painted b/c too much hail damage.

wow, so the RPM driving on the highway is reduced??? so i guess the car is able to "breathe" (intake) easier w/ this. this is so cooL!

it really just took some time. my car has hella hail so i bought the hood from certifit for 115.00 brand new. scoop 80 bucks gallon of plasitc filler 20.00. it has significantly improved performance . the trick was finding a spot on hood to put it. towards the front or the back. its as far front as it goes though. rivets rivets bondo + time.

You did a good job at keeping it at a nice height as well. I would not like it if it came up too far or looked too obvious but it has a nice "stock" look to it.

Nice work. It looks like it belongs there. Just need to get it painted now.

I was actually thinking of a smaller one on the driver side to funnel air into the throttle.

How do you keep water from getting in?

Nice work... it's very orignal.

I've been considering 'hacking up' my CF hood that's been sitting in my garage for 6+ months... I kinda wanna get one of those American Muscle car fiberglass pieces (e.g. Z28) and putting it on... I was going to paint the hood anyways.

Wow, that's EXCELLENT! Hopefully you will start production too... I'm sure this mod will be a hit if you could prove that the scoop is functional because it looks great and if it increases performance too, there will be a LOT of people wanting this item.

Re: I GOT ONE 2!

THe water issue has never been a real problem which is why i didnt cut the entire whole out. to keep some water back. you can see a little water spots here or ther but even after driving alot in the rain i open my hood and really no water at all.
Mass Production is Possible. Give me an idea of what you think something like this is worth! Anything is possible>>
p.s. driving with-out the scoop on ,but cuts in the hood= easy 20hp.
i would break the tires loose like this.. It still has significant increase in power with the scoop on though.i bet 10-15.

That does look good. It gives the car a really muscular look. But 10-15 hp? Come on...

Anyway, what kind of scoop is it and where do you get 'em?

excellent job man! really adds a touch of sport while keeping it classy...can't wait to see it completely finished and painted. i'd imagine it brings cooler air of course to the engine bay but i dunno if you would really get any real gains...only one way to find out...again nice job... A+

you are straight up an idiot for thinking that increased your HP..

If, IFFFF, it would increase it would have to be like "twistedmax's" setup which would actually move air towards the intake. My carbon fiber hood lets more air in than your hood scoop does and there is no 15-20 HP.. good luck with a hard rain or when you wash your car.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is typical.. hoodscoop with stock wheels, drop, body, brakes, etc..

Nice overspray on the spare-tire well.

Uhm....I have a 97 Auto and it will idle at 3000RPM at about 90MPH too....it will go higher than that accelerating up to it, but will then drop down and hum right along.

Dude lay off of him.. he is getting all the body work done on his car before he adds rims and $hit... you would diss on him even if he had rims saying ohhh how ghetto he's got rims and a $hitty paint job.. you tread around this forum thinking your all bad and your car is the $hit.... i got news for you, i dont know how the hell you got a sponsor, but your car is by no means all that. And for you to diss on somebody and there mods (even when alot of people on the board like this particular mod) just tells me your jealous. Get over yourself.... your car is not that cool..

I think Maxipad took offense to the "And this, ladies and gentlemen, is typical.. hoodscoop with stock wheels, drop, body, brakes, etc.." comment. I have to agree with Maxipad. That comment was uncalled for as Mdubya is obviously not done with his car yet. But I agree about the horsepower gains from a hood scoop. They're going to be minimal.

man I wonder what you guys will say when i finally get the chance to install my hood scoop... but right now its just chillin in my room

I give you points for being original but honestly I dont like it too much, it sticks out too much for the max. I have a little different set up with ym scoop so i think it will look better, like more sleek..... ahh anyways goodluck with the rest of the body work
