crank position sensor advice

recently i've had a problem with starting my car and it started throwing a fualt code, i checked it out and got the # p1335 which nissan told me was a crank position sensor, but then afterwards told me to make an apointment and they would test the wireing and blah blah blah...should i buy both the sensors or atepmt to test them first...i've also been noticing power loss which i just asumed was from the small leak i ahve coming from my y pipe, would the sensor cause power loss and how hard is it to get to this sensor...thanx for the help

There are 2 sensors for crank. One is called POS and one is called REF. The POS sensor is located under and twards the back of the transmission. It's on the bell housing and looks at the flywheel.

The REF sensor is under your lower crank pully. You can see it clearly from under the car or through the right front wheel well. Remove the pannel and it's right in front of you.

Find out if it was REF or POS so you get and replace the correct sensor.
