Which way does the crush ring go on the drain plug?
First way: Flat part of crush ring towards flat part
of plug.

Second way: Flat part of crush ring towards open part
of plug.

Wow, nice PICs. The 1st way, Flat part of crush ring towards flat part of plug. That way, it's easier to remove at the next oil change. The second way will crush the ring onto the oil pan and you won't be able to get a flat head screwdriver under it to pry it off. The 1st way will do the same thing, but you will be crushing the wider part of the crush ring onto the less wide part, so it will fold over on the edges, making removal easier.
