Hey All,

Recently my car has become louder on the highway. I never used to hear my engine when cruising down the highway unless I was accelerating/passing. Now I hear a loud humm ALL THE TIME. My wife noticed it yesterday too and asked me why the car was loud...
Could it be the change in seasons? It's been cooler up here in NH, or has anyone else noticed this? Don't remember this last winter...
Recently changed to Mobil 1 synthetic and put a FSTB, that's all that's new.

tires beginning to cup/wear down?

 

nope, tires are brand new Michelins...it's definitely engine noise. You can hear it get louder when the gas is pressed, quiets when gas is released, going down hills, etc.

maybe you have a slight exhaust leak already. your car seems to young for that though.

 

Could a bad knock sensor cause the engine to make extra noise?? Just a thought...105K and on original knock sensor.
